They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC. It is a State entity that provides environmental health services, including the issuance of well and sewage disposal or septic permits, and clinic services to the citizens of Fauquier County. While providing services to the citizens of Fauquier County, it is not a department of the Fauquier County government. The Fauquier County Health Department is a part of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District which is headquartered in the Environmental Health Services office in Warrenton. CARITAS receives all shelter placement referrals through coordinated entry. CARITAS emergency shelters are committed to providing a place of shelter and support for every individual who passes through our doors. We accomplish this through a network of partner congregations. CARITAS emergency shelter programs provide case management that focuses on developing a Housing Stabilization plan. This individualized plan identifies barriers to housing, establishes housing goals and identifies the steps that are necessary for individuals and families to exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency.

NovaSalud is committed to providing care to people living with HIV regardless of their ability to pay. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, the Ryan White Program provides linkage to the Ryan White HIV care and supportive services. NovaSalud provides free confidential HIV, STI, and Hepatitis C counseling and testing for residents living in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Outreach testing has been the foundation of NovaSalud's successful HIV prevention program for the past decade. Appointments are available by phone, online scheduling, or walk-in. The Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Program is part of a larger Public Health strategy to reduce negative health outcomes for people who engage in substance use. NovaSalud Program incorporates a spectrum of strategies and evidence-based interventions that include overdose, HIV/HCV transmission, and other infection prevention. NovaSalud programs provide support to diverse community members in the DC metropolitan area. We serve women— daughters, sisters, wives and mothers—who need structure and professional support in early recovery to build a solid basis for sustained sobriety. The Women’s Home addresses the special needs of women, with a focus on lifestyle changes. By accepting boundaries and personal responsibility, residents put in place new attitudes and new ways of living, transforming their liabilities into assets. Residents learn tools to stay sober and how to “live life on life’s terms.” It is one of the few such programs licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are based on a strategy of accountability to structure, accepting guidance from staff and cultivating healthy relationships with women, learning to ask for and accept help. Residents align themselves with successful women in the recovery community, who have sustained long-term sobriety. With this new-found resource, residents recognize where they are at risk of relapsing and maintain the motivation to change their behavior.
