Hospital-based programs that provide diagnostic and treatment services for individuals who have acute psychiatric disorders, who require hospitalization on a voluntary or involuntary basis for maximum benefit, and who might be a threat to themselves, to their families or to others if left in the community or placed in a less restrictive treatment setting. The objective of inpatient mental health programs is to stabilize and then return the individual to the community for ongoing treatment as quickly as possible, and to facilitate the transition by preparing the individual's family to cope with the limitations imposed by the illness and by arranging for other supportive services as required. Included are psychiatric hospitals, health care hospitals that have psychiatric units and state hospitals for people who are mentally disordered.

The Center provides comprehensive programs and services to assist individauls and families who are at risk of becoming homeless or who have recently become homeless.

You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits. Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. The mission of the Surry Area Free Clinic is to provide medical, dental and pharmaceutical care to the area working poor, using volunteer and professional staff. The Surry Area Free Clinic?s intention is to help those who are making a sincere effort to help themselves and their families. Most of our patients have incomes at or below 100% of the federal poverty level. We treat mostly patients who have at least one chronic illness.

We are proud to offer all aspects of primary medical care and mental health, substance abuse and case management services to HIV positive individuals along with a history of delivering compassionate HIV/AIDS clinical and education services. Our convenient services are available at locations around Northern Virginia. We provide compassionate, dignified care to individuals regardless of their sex, race, background, sexual orientation, religious preference, financial status or insurance coverage. The Clinic provides primary care, chronic disease management care, diagnostic services, medications, referrals to specialists, health education, men?s and women?s health programs, and limited mental health services. Dental services are provided through the Augusta Regional Dental Clinic. Our modern facilities are easy to access as they are adjacent to Augusta Health and are served by the CATS bus line. We serve the residents of Staunton, Waynesboro, or Augusta County, who do not have health insurance and who meet the basic eligibility guidelines. Additionally, a patient may be employed full or part time, unemployed, or a full time college student or caregiver. Patients must meet the income guidelines of 200% of the Federal poverty level. Last year the clinic served more than 1,500 unduplicated patients with approximately 7,000 medical encounters and provided over 25,000 prescriptions valued at more than $2 million.

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center believes that mental health is an essential part of overall health. Our professional staff takes a multidisciplinary approach to all treatment services, using ?best practices? as a guide to assessing, treating, and caring for all of our patients. Staff members are highly trained and educated in various aspects of medical and behavioral health. Our medical staff includes Board Certified Psychiatrists and Addictionologists. Our nursing staff includes dedicated and caring Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and additional staff with specific experience and expertise in providing behavioral healthcare. Our clinical department consists of Clinical Social Workers, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors, and Mental Health Counselors.
