Operating for 40+ years, Southeastern Virginia Health System (SEVHS) is the premier community-based health care initiative in Hampton Roads for the insured, uninsured, and underinsured. The 501(c)3 operates twelve sites, providing primary care and dental services to individuals and families. SEVHS physicians are board-certified and provide services in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology. Transitional Residential Substance Use Disorder Services

Independence House is a nationally-accredited, transitional program that serves male and female residents of Arlington County who have recently completed a primary treatment program. Clients in the early stages of recovery begin to face responsibilities of independent living in a hopeful, supportive atmosphere?working, taking part in job training, or attending school during the day and returning to the facility during the evening. Dedicated counselors, as well as our medical and psychiatric staff, bring a cognitive-behavioral, 12-step approach to support groups. Client groups emphasize self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and recovery skills. Length of stay varies determined by individual progress and need.

Eastern Shore Rural Health is a Community Health Center Network committed to a healthy Eastern Shore. They provide medical, oral, and behavioral health care and support services to everyone in their community regardless of ability to pay. As primary health care providers, they serve patients and work with others to manage patients’ health needs in a safe, professional way that also respects the culture of every individual. Serving Virginia’s Eastern Shore with four medical centers, seven dental locations, and one urgent care center, they are the medical primary care provider of choice. In addition to primary medical and dental care, they offer behavioral health, pharmacy, and urgent care services as well as programs including health education, help obtaining prescriptions for those who can’t afford them on their own, digital x-ray, lab work, travel immunizations and more. Rapid HIV Tests

The Drop-In Center provides free, confidential rapid finger-stick HIV testing and finger-stick HCV screening by trained staff through use of OraSure and OraQuick tests. These tests are highly accurate and can provide preliminary results in 20 minutes.* There is no appointment necessary to be tested. *The OraQuick test is more than 99% accurate at detecting HIV antibodies if they are present. The body can take 3-6 months to start producing these antibodies after the contraction of HIV. Someone who has contacted HIV may not test positive for up to 6 months and certain medications can cause even more of a delay. During your testing session, you will be asked about these specific medications. It is important to be honest about your medical history.

They started in 1970 as a community-based and patient-directed organization focused on providing care to people with limited access to the health services they need. They are committed to and must uphold a high level of care, meeting administrative, clinical, and financial standards as part of responsibility as a FQHC.
